Living in Munich
Munich is the capital of Bavaria, one of the 16 German states, and is located in southern Germany. With its population of 1.5 mio., Munich is the third largest city in Germany. Living in Munich also means living in one of the wealthiest and fastest growing cities in Germany.
Munich and its closest suburbs have one of the most comprehensive and punctual systems in the world, consisting of a network of “U-Bahn”, S-Bahn”, tram and busses. However, when living in Munich you will soon find out that biking is considered a popular alternative to public transportation. Furthermore, from Munich airport, the second largest German airport, you can travel to international destinations. Munich is also well integrated into the German motorway network and can easily be reached by car.
Already since the early 19th century Munich has been one of the European major centres of arts, architecture, culture and science and is still home to many major museums and theatres as well as prestigious universities and scientific research institutions, like the Max-Planck Society However, what Munich is probably most known for is the world-famous annual “Oktoberfest”, which does not only attract those living in Munich but people from all over the world.
